About Angela

For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved reading and books. I began writing in grade school and continued through my career in communications, my studies, and now as a memoirist.

As children, my sister and I survived many difficulties and repeated episodes of abuse. To cope, we immersed ourselves in books and stories, escaping into wonderful worlds for a few hours. We grew up and eventually thrived, then in my early forties I was diagnosed with breast cancer. After a grueling treatment regimen, I again became a survivor.

I kept writing. The words flowed into poems, lyrical essays, humorous travel blogs and other musings. With much encouragement from family, I began curating my stories into a debut memoir, Children Born of Wildfire. While it describes some terribly hard times, it ultimately offers hope for survivors of childhood trauma and life-changing illnesses.

A perpetual late bloomer, I finished my bachelor’s degree as I tipped into my sixties. For several years I attended Marylhurst University in Portland, Oregon, while working full-time. It was a thrill to study English literature and creative writing. When my beloved university closed in 2018, I was fortunate to finish my last few credits with Prescott College.

In 2020, I was diagnosed with inflammatory arthritis, a chronic autoimmune condition. Thanks to modern medicine, I eventually recovered enough to lead an active life.

Now I enjoy the writing communities on Substack, Instagram and Facebook, my hobby photography, socializing with my fellow Ethels in South Puget Sound, family time, spiritual pursuits, and travel to the ocean and beyond.
